General information about Lake Talquin: In 1927 the Jackson Bluff Dam was constructed on the Ochlockonee River.  The water held back by the dam formed Lake Talquin. Lake Talquin is an 8800+/- acre lake located between Tallahassee and Quincy, Florida. Lake Talquin is nationally known for  it's high quality black crappie (speckled perch) fishery. At certain times of the year  bass, blue gill and redear fishing are excellent. The average depth is 15 feet and a maximum of 40 feet.

Nature lovers will enjoy the rolling hills and deep ravines with forest of pines and hardwoods.  You can watch deer, wild turkeys, bald eagles, hawks, osprey...

There is an abundance of recreational opportunities including fishing, canoeing, kayaking, sailing, skiing, jet skiing, wake boarding and tubing... 

Joe Budd Wildlife Management Area offers more than 11,000 acres off Lake Talquin, this is one of the few places in the state where only primitive weapons, bows and muzzleloaders are allowed for hunting deer, hogs and turkey.

Lake Talquin State Park is a great place to enjoy hiking trails, equestrian trails, and designated bike trails. Bear Creek Trail, located within the State Forest, is wheelchair accessible.
